SLICK ROCK GOLF COURSE (Private) - HORSESHOE BAY, TEXAS

hsblogo.gif (2578 bytes)Slick Rock has 72 sand traps, twelve holes with water hazards, and huge, undulating greens that can offer difficult pin placements, but still manages to be user friendly for the amateur, duffer or professional due to the four different teeing positions on each hole and five positions on the 17th hole.

The design of Slick Rock, which opened in 1972, not only shows the mark of the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr., but also of Norman Hurd, one of the developers of Horseshoe Bay Resort who oversaw the beautiful landscaping of the course.

Texas Hill Country Golf Courses: Slick Rock Golf Course - Horseshoe Bay, TexasThe developers of the course took great care to follow mother nature's lead utilizing as many natural resources as possible. The result is a peaceful blend of nature and what else...great golf!

Slick Rock's greens are made up of Penncross Bentgrass, Tifdwarf tees and Bermuda grass on the fairways.  The course is kept in USGA competition form at all times and a top of the line irrigation system keeps the grass watered from boundary to boundary, including the roughs.

Slick Rock embodies the Robert Trent Jones, Sr., philosophy of  "Hard Par, Easy Bogey."  The course is characterized by five sets of tees enabling the course to be continually changing from day to day.
